Meet our Staff

Owner and Director

Wendy Sanchez

  • Hi, I’m Wendy! I was drawn to Maria Montessori’s ideas after first observing a Montessori environment. I was amazed at the level of concentration and independent work displayed by the children. I quickly came to appreciate the uniqueness of the Montessori Method and to believe deeply in the difference that it can make in the lives of children.

I’m originally from Mexico, raised in California, and moved to the Twin Cities in 1999. I discovered my passion for early childhood education in 2009 and since then it’s been my goal to ensure that each student receives the highest quality education.

In my spare time, I love traveling, scrapbooking and exploring the outdoors with my husband Antonio, our daughters Emily and Brianna, and our three fur babies, Cofi, Conan and Rayo!

Ross Nixon

Head of School

  • Hi, I’m Ross! I began working in education at Mandala in 2017. As a child, I attended a Montessori school and it was my favorite school experience by far! I began working at Mandala in order to provide those wonderful moments for others.

When I'm not at school I love to play music, mostly the guitar, bass, and drums these days though I play anything I can get a hold of. I usually play music for our Children's Houses once or twice a year, it's always a blast!

I also enjoy riding my bike, learning Spanish, camping, and traveling with my fiancé.

CH1 Lead Teacher

Emma Benson

  • Hi, I’m Emma! I’m from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. I love young children and worked in early childhood for over 6 years! I have a Bachelors of Science from St. Catherine University in early childhood education and my American Montessori Society primary teaching license.

What connects me to Montessori is the child lead pedagogy, beautiful materials, and mixed age learning community!

I currently live in Fridley with my partner Matt and our dogs, Trish and Frannie. We spend our weekends getting outdoors, looking at antique/thrift stores, and cooking in our home!

Emily Valle

CH1 Assistant Teacher

  • Hi, I’m Emily! I joined Mandala Montessori five years ago as an Assistant Float Teacher. Since then, my goal has been to inspire and challenge children to love learning.  I am currently working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Studies at the University of Minnesota.

In my free time, I love gardening, reading, and watching sunsets!

I have two children, two dogs, and a husband. I enjoy traveling with my family, crafting, and gardening!

  • Hi! I'm Daisy! I was born in Chicago and raised in Minnesota. My parents are from Mexico and I am fluent in English and Spanish.

I have my Child Development Associate Credential in early childhood education. My favorite thing about working at Mandala is the peaceful environment and the unique Montessori method!

During my free time I enjoy taking walks with my family and caring for my dogs. I have a Shih Tzu "Chloe" and "Rocky" a Maltese!

Daisy Cardoso

CH3 Assistant Teacher

  • Hi! I’m Brianna! I was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. I joined Mandala as a volunteer last summer and, this year, as a full-time Teacher Aide in Children’s House 3!

My interest in working with children began in middle school when I volunteered at elementary school events. Since then, I’ve continued volunteering with different age groups and continue to expand my education in the early childhood field.

In my spare time, I create art, socialize with friends, and stay informed about the latest fashion trends!

Brianna Valle

CH3 Teacher Aide

  • Hi! I'm Victor! I was born in Mexico, but have been living here in Minneapolis ever since I was 4. Currently I am studying to become an ASL interpreter.

In the summer; my favorite season, I like to do several outdoor activities. I enjoy a good hike, explore nature, visit the several lakes Minneapolis has to offer, kayaking, and going on walks with my family’s dog. When I am not busy exploring the outdoors I am enjoying my favorite foods, tacos and watermelon!
